The federation covers many areas from ARTS Association for Retail Technology Standards, NCCR National Council of Chain Restaurants, RAMA Retail Advertising and Marketing Association, IRF International Retail Federation.

The association also commissions some surveys such as the annual state of the retail industry benchmarking study. This is the fourth edition of Retail Horizons: Benchmarks and Forecasts.
